Modify a PMM Breadcrumb Trail
You can modify a PMM Breadcrumb Trail on any page that contains an existing PMM Breadcrumb Trail. If the breadcrumb trail is contained in a locked region of a Dreamweaver Template then be sure to Modify only on the template (.dwt) page. All interface options are available for modification.
There is, for example, a breadcrumb trail at the top of this page. The breadcrumb trail is based on the page links in the PopMenu Magic system on the page and will work in conjunction with the default Current Marking system or any of the Advanced Current Marker options employed.
This tutorial assumes that you have created a PMM Breadcrumb Trail on your page using the techniques described in the Creating A PMM Breadcrumb Trail tutorial. We will use an example folder structure loosely based on projectseven.com. You can follow along using your own site or you can download the Example Site. If you choose to download the example site, unzip the archive and define a new Dreamweaver site using the example site as the root.
Opening the Breadcrumb Builder
-Choose Commands > Studio VII > PopMenu Magic by PVII > Breadcrumb Trail...
Note: The Breadcrumb Trail option will be unavailable (grayed out) if there is no Pop Menu Magic html markup on the page.
The Breadcrumb Trail Builder interface will open in Modify mode.
The Modify interface offers the same interface options as the Create interface. All of the user options will be automatically populated to reflect your existing PMM Breadcrumb.
Note: You can always tell that the system is in Modify mode by the presence of the Remove button.
Make the Desired Changes
All of the interface options are available for modification and can be changed at any time.
-Make your desired changes to any of the interface items. For complete details on each interface option see the Create PMM breadcrumb Trail tutorial.
Save the Changes
-Click the OK button to apply the revised PMM Breadcrumb to your page.
The existing PMM Breadcrumb Trail markup will be updated to reflect all of your changes.
-Save the page to preserve the changes. If you added this to a template page be sure to allow the template to update changes to all template-based pages.
You can preview and test the page now.
Note: to preview this feature, you will need to save your page and open it directly in the browser. Dreamweaver's Preview in Browser feature will not work correctly because it uses special temporary files instead of the actual url of the page.
If you are on the index (root) page then all you will see is the Home text. If you are on a page that is deeper in the site then the breadcrumb trail will reflect the complete hierarchy of the current page as it appears in the Pop Menu Magic menu on your page.
Note: The breadcrumb system will use the link text that appears in the current marker trail of the PMM system. If the current page does not appear in the menu then its page title text will be used instead.
