Question #279

In Horizontal Glider Magic (HGM) is there a way to have the Auto Play display the first panel longer, say twice as long, as the normal play time when the page first loads?

The Answer

Prepared Dec. 2009 by Gerry Jacobsen, PVII

You can tweak the Auto Play in Horizontal Glider Magic (HGM) to display the first slide for as long as you like, here's how:

1. Open the p7HGMscripts.js file and locate this code block in the P7_initHGM() function, around line 372:

     if(tB.p7opt[7]==1){
        P7_HGMplay(tB.id,true,true);
     }

2. Replace the second line with this new code line:

        setTimeout("P7_HGMplay('"+tB.id+"',true,true)",10000);

directly after the second line so that it now looks like this:

     if(tB.p7opt[7]==1){
        setTimeout("P7_HGMplay('"+tB.id+"',true,true)",10000);;
     }

You can adjust the amount of time that the first panel display by changing the 10000 to a higher or lower number. The 10000 is equivalent to 10 seconds, change it to 20000 to have the first panel show for 20 seconds.

3. Save and close the file.

That's it! Now the Auto Play will show the first panel for the amount of time specified and then play the remaining panels using the normal delay set in the user interface.
