Question #266
My Lightshow Magic gallery is running slowly in IE8. Is there a fix for this?
The Answer
Prepared Jun. 2009 by Al Sparber, PVIIIE8 has a known bug when rendering elements with opacity and/or fixed positioning assigned. The IE opacity engine powers any type of transparencies on a page, including those that run inside Flash, as well as transparent PNG and GIF images. The engine requires a lot of horsepower and this bug is not scheduled to be fixed until the release of IE9 so the best solution if your menu, gallery, slide show, Light Show, or widget animations are running too slowly is to place your page into IE7 Compatibility Mode. To do that, place this meta tag in the <head> region of your page:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />
But before you do this...
Make sure you have updated to the latest version of Lightshow Magic and the Lightshow Magic script, as this alone could fix your problem.
