Question #256

I upgraded to Pop Menu Magic 2 - Can I upgrade my existing menus to PMM 2?

The Answer

Prepared Dec. 2008 by Gerry Jacobsen, PVII

There is no automatic conversion from Pop Menu Magic 1 to Pop Menu Magic 2 as the underlying (x)html markup, scripts, style sheets and related assets are completely different. You can, however, make the conversion yourself by following a simple tutorial:

Converting an existing menu to PMM2

Note that you can continue to use existing PMM1 menus on existing sites unless you want to take advantage of some of the newer styles and options offered by PMM2.

PMM1 and PMM2 on the same page -You can add one or more PMM2 menus to a page that contains a PMM1 menu, they will work together on the same page without issue.

Pop Menu Magic 1 Page Packs -You can use the Pop Menu Magic 2 system in any of the Pop Menu magic Page Packs, either in addition to the PMM1 menu, as a replacement for the PMM1 menu, or as a replacement for the default single-level menu. To use the PMM2 menu instead of the PMM1 system or the single-level menu, simply create the Page Pack page choosing the "No Menu -Placeholder Text Only" option or choose a layout that does not include a PMM1 menu. Once the page is created, select and remove the placeholder text and then simply Insert the PMM2 menu at that location.
