Question #251

How can I prevent the Lightshow from closing when the user clicks on the dimmed page background in Lightshow Magic?

The Answer

Prepared Nov. 2008 by Gerry Jacobsen, PVII

You can disable the close of the Lightshow Magic when the dimmed page area is clicked by applying this quick code tweak:

1. Open the p7LSMscripts.js file and locate this code block in the P7_LSMinit() function, around line 224:

bA=document.getElementById("p7lsm_overlay");
  if(bA){
    bA.onclick=function(){
      return P7_LSMclose();
    };
  }

2. Change this line: return P7_LSMclose(); to this:

    return true;

so that it now looks like this:

bA=document.getElementById("p7lsm_overlay");
  if(bA){
    bA.onclick=function(){
      return true;
    };
  }

3. Save and close the file.

That's it, the Lightshow system will no longer close whenever the user clicks on the dimmed out page background. The only way to close the show will be to click the X (Close) button in the Lightshow toolbar.
