Question #221

In Tab Panel Magic 1 (TPM) is there a way to have the section trigger launch an actual page?

The Answer

Prepared Oct. 2007 by Gerry Jacobsen, PVII

In the Tab Panel Magic 1 (TPM) system there is way to tweak the scripts to not trigger the content panel when clicked, and instead, to just load a new page contained in the link href.

This tweak will always load a new page when the tab is clicked if you have assigned an actual page link to the Tab.

Be sure that you are working with the version 1.1.0 scripts file or higher.

1. Open the p7tpscripts.js file and locate these lines of code in the P7_TPtrig(a) function, it starts around line 65:

 }
   if(a.p7tpn){

2. Add a new line in between the above lines and then copy and paste this code into the new line:

  if(a.href.indexOf(".")>-1&&location.href!=a.href){return true};

so it looks like this:

 }
  if(a.href.indexOf(".")>-1&&location.href!=a.href){return true};
  if(a.p7tpn){

3. Save the file.

That's it! The Tab Panel will now launch the page designated in the href property of the link. If the Tab button has the default href value and is not an actual page link, then the Tab button will behave as normal and simply show the relevant content panel.

panel.
