Question #162

How do I set the font and font-size for my PopMenu Magic (PMM) menu?

The Answer

Prepared Feb. 2005 by Gerry Jacobsen, PVII

The font and font-size settings are not set or defined in the PopMenu Magic style sheet, ordinarily the menu will use the font and font-size already defined on your page or your main style sheet.

Here are three approaches to setting the font and font-size:

1. Global setting - Set a global font and font-size in your main page style sheet (not the menu style sheet)

 body {
  font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
  font-size: 14px;
 }

2. Menu Container -Set a font and font-size for the page element which contains the menu, this container element should have an id assigned. The set the font and font-size for that container:

 #yourmenucontainer {
  font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
  font-size: 12px;
 }

3. The Menu - Edit the menu style sheet to set a font and/or font-size for just the menu by editing the #p7PMnav rule in the PopMenu Magic style sheet. Use the same editing techniques discussed in the Editing Colors and Borders section of the PopMenu Magic UserGuide.

for example, this rule from the Basic menu style:

 #p7PMnav {
  margin: 0;
  padding:0;
  border: 1px solid #000000;
 }

would look like this with font and font-size defined:

 #p7PMnav {
  margin: 0;
  padding:0;
  border: 1px solid #000000;
  font-size: 12px;
  font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
 }
