Question #113

On a large TreeMenu Magic page, using the plus and minus image option, there is a slight delay before the images show when the the first page of the site loads. Is there a way to make the initial load of the plus or minus images even quicker?

The Answer

Prepared Oct. 2003 by Gerry Jacobsen, PVII

Copy and Paste this markup for a hidden DIV onto your page, in Code View:

<div style="display: none;">
 <div class="p7plusmark"></div>
 <div class="p7minusmark"></div>
 <div class="p7defmark"></div>
 <div class="p7currentmark"></div>
</div>

This will load the background images as part of the intial page load and make them instantly available from the browser's cache.

Depending on your server speed, it might be a little quicker to a lot quicker. By the way, once the first page is loaded, the background images should be instantaneous on subsequent pages unless your cache settings have been changed from default.
